The paint peels off watercolor paintings when the paper becomes oversaturated with water and the paint cannot adhere properly. This can happen when too much water is used during the painting process or when the paper is not of high quality and cannot handle the amount of water being applied. Additionally, if the paper is not properly stretched before painting, it can cause the paint to peel off as it dries. Using too much pressure when applying the paint can also cause it to lift off the paper as it dries. **
